WP Super Popup – Review & Comparison

WP Super Popup offers a great value. It is feature packed, yet very affordable–there is even a free version. But the free version has only a fraction of the features of the paid version.

Watch this video tour to learn about the various features of the plugin:

Now let me break things up for you — just in case.

Supported content

When it comes to which stuff appears in your popup, WP Super Popup is very dynamic. It has two modes: content mode and subscription form mode. Content mode is for when you just want to display content in your popup, like videos, announcements, etc. The subscription form is the one that matters–it’s for when you display an opt-in form in your popup.

You can create the content for the popup in multiple ways: WYSIWYG editor, plain HTML, content of a WordPress page, or simply the content of a certain URL.

Support for 3rd party email marketing service providers

The free version of the plugin doesn’t work very well for opt-in forms. It doesn’t recognize when a form has been submitted, so it stays open even after submission. The Pro version doesn’t suffer from this problem. In fact, the plugin — in its Pro form — can do some impressive opt-in stuff.

It allows you to easily specify your own Thank You message. Your visitor clicks submit, and they immediately see your own message. They don’t need to be forwarded to another URL. Another cool feature is the email autoload. If your visitor has left a comment on your WordPress site in the past, his name and email will be stored in a cookie. WP Super Popup can read the cookie and pre-fill this information in the popup for your user.

Appearances

You’re given several themes with the plugin. The themes determine the appearance of the popup frame — not the content of the popup. You can style your popup content yourself.

Types of popups and opt-in forms

WP Super Popup not only capable of showing various types of popups but it also has several types of opt-in forms.

WP Super Popup shows modal, JavaScript pop-ins that are virtually unblockable. You can schedule when it is displayed based on user visits, delay, and more.

The plugin can detect when your visitor is trying to leave your website and display your popup before the visitor has left the site — this is called exist popup.

Using opt-in forms isn’t the only way to capture emails with WP Super Popup. You can also use slide-up (or slide-down) forms, sidebar widget, and in-post form. Because the plugin supports live preview, you can always check your popup and form configurations and settings easily.

Price, license, and refund policy

You can choose the free version of the plugin — but like I said earlier, it doesn’t even have half of the features of the Pro version. The Pro version costs $39.95. You can install it on all the websites you own and it is backed by a 60-day no-questions-asked money back guarantee.

This pop up basically didn’t work with my layout and WP updated version. It crashed my site and caused problems with my overall sites function. I had to delete it!

WP Super Popup wouldn’t display for me after installation and configuration. It’s a shame about WPSP too, b/c I really liked the design! However, “MaxBlogPress Unblockable Popup” DID work. Thanks for all your great reviews here, you really do good work. :-)
