WordPress Popup Scheduler is a free and a mature popup plugin.

To learn about all of its options, check out its main and only settings page:

See that you can adjust when to show your popup. To new visitors only? To returning visitors? Starting from a certain date? All the time? When popup content is modified?

You can also make it a delayed popup and set the pages where it is displayed–homepage, any landing page, or a specific URL. It is possible to set the position of the popup as well.

The available presentation effects are simple popup, drop down, fade in, and lightbox.

The plugin let’s you use rich text editing to write the popup content. Alternatively, use plain HTML mode to put whatever you want in there.

See the frame above for other details and tweaks that you can make.

To me, this would be a very useful plugin if it allowed for displaying different popup content for each WordPress page. I don’t want the same message to appear in a popup on all the pages of my website. I’ll want to tailor my message for each post.
