PlatinumPopup – Review & Comparison

PlatinumPopup is one of the few truly advanced and professionally built WordPress popup plugins. Surprisingly, it’s also the most affordable!

Installation of the plugin is very simple — upload and activate.

While PlatinumPopup doesn’t support direct or intuitive integration with with 3rd party email marketing service providers, it does allow you to insert any HTML code (even opt-in form code) in the WYSIWYG editor.

One unique feature of PlatinumPopup is its ability to create unlimited number of popups! PlatinumPopup is to popups what WordPress is to posts. You can create any number of unique popups and decide where and how each one is displayed. Here’s the popup editor page of PlatinumPopup:

PlatinumPopup provides you with different ways to add content to your popup window:

  • WYSIWYG editor which allows both rich text editing and HTML code editing
  • Grab the content of a WordPress post or page by specifying ID
  • Grab the content of a specific URL
  • Grab the content of a WordPress sidebar widget

With these options, you can insert opt-in forms, videos, images, or anything that can be displayed on a web page!

Appearances

The frame of the popup cannot be styled. You can choose the location of the X close button (top right or bottom) and you can choose whether to display a title. The content that appears within the popup, however, can definitely be styled. Design your popup content in CSS, HTML, and JavaScript and then embed the code in the HTML editor. That’s it.

I like the appear and disappear effects of PlatinumPopup. It has fade-in or out, fly-in or out, explode, fold, puff and more. It also supports the lightbox effect.

Popup types

On page load

These are the popups we all know. The ones that appear when a page first loads. These can also be delayed by a number of seconds — making them: delayed popups.

These are popups that appear when a user clicks on their link. Optionally, you can have these pop when a user merely mouses-over the link.

Exit popup

PlatinumPop detects when your user is trying to leave your page by moving his mouse to the back button or window close button. Before he’s there, PlatinumPop can show your rescue message.

Price, licensing and refund policy

PlatinumPopup comes in a free version and a premium version. Here’s a comparison of the two versions. The premium version costs a one time payment of $27. The license allows you to install on all the websites that you own. The authors don’t offer a refund policy, but you can try the free version and see if you like it before you buy. After all, it’s only $27 for the upgrade.
