While its appearance is great, MeeNews seems to not have been updated in a long time. While MeeNews looks nice, it lacks some vital components, such as proper support and documentation. And that puts it below the competition.
Read on to find out more about the plugin…
Ease of Use and Installation
Acquiring the paid version of MeeNews is a hassle. You’ll have to create a full profile at the plugin’s site where you include your name, mailing address, and more before you are redirected to PayPal to make the payment. Once payment is made and the plugin is activated, you’ll have to input your license number to start using the plugin.
The admin screens of the plugin look beautiful and very professional. But when it comes to actually using the plugin, things aren’t so nice. After you configure the plugin, it’s not clear where you have to go in order to send your first newsletter.
Technical Support and Documentation
There’s no support for MeeNews. And for documentation, there are brief videos for: installation, basic configurations, using the statistics module, front end settings, and subscribers management. That’s it.
Managing Subscribers and Mailing Lists
MeeNews seems to offer decent functionality for managing subscribers and mailing lists. You can perform bulk actions on subscribers, import and export, as well as segment your subscribers by mailing lists. However, you cannot capture custom fields.
Check out this video to see how subscriber management is done within MeeNews.
Opt-in Form Features
The only way to display an opt-in form with MeeNews is through the use of sidebar widget. There are no opt-in form templates and it is not readily possible to use 3rd party opt-in form plugins with MeeNews.
HTML Emails, Themes, and Attachments
MeeNews can send HTML newsletters but it doesn’t have any themes. It doesn’t support plaintext emails and it doesn’t support attachments.
Email Newsletter Analytics
MeeNews has a statistics module that shows subscribers stats and email interaction stats. Checkout this video for more details.
Money Matters
MeeNews costs a one-time payment of $80 for the single site license and $265 for the unlimited sites license. There’s also a free version of the plugin on WordPress.org. But honestly, the plugin seems broken. It barely works, so I don’t know why anyone would buy it.

Hi,
I agree. We buyed plugin, It looks as most perspective plugin in wordpress. Easy and fun. But: with every wordpress you got new errors, plugin doesnt work fine and editors claim bad behaviour. Last year we after mailing get helpo soon (new version), this year nobody answer any more.
Nice try, tragic end.Im sory, we go back to chimp.
I bought it, thinking it was the most complete and easy to use around. It SUCKS. It never works, it conflicts with almost every other plugin and the worst of all: customer service is attended by smokingmonkeys that NEVER answers your needs. I’ve been more than 10 months trying to make it work, if i succeed, when i update wordpress, it fails again.
The worst.
Give a try to ver 5.2 (Updated in Last november )
@M.K.
Can you update the post mentioning the fourth line of your original post?
Hello,
but where can we get it when nobody answer anymore on our emails?
VBK, what fourth line in what post?
Sorry for not making myself clear in previous comment
I mean to say that the plugin has been updated on November-2011 and so I think this post must be updated accordingly
>> ” There’s a free version of the plugin on WordPress.org, which was last updated late 2010. “
Ah, thanks for the heads up. But it seems that the plugin has been removed from the repository altogether.
Sorry, I don’t know why it was removed now
But it was there at the repository when I originally posted the comment on March-13-2012. I have made the comment only after viewing the plugin updated date(It was published as Nov -2011)
Looking forward for your new Reviews on some more best plugins
