The WordPress Newsletter Plugin with Best Support & Documentation

Most WordPress newsletter plugins offer both excellent support and comprehensive documentation. But there are a few that don’t match up to the rest. Compare each plugin below to find the one that you’re most comfortable with.

You can click on the name of the product below to view its full review.

Tribulant Newsletter

Support for Tribulant products--this newsletter plugin included--is provided through multiple channels: live support, community forum, and a ticketing system. The forum isn't that useful to be honest. It's best that you just go ahead and submit a ticket for support.

As for documentation, it is great. It is well written and comprehensive. There are step by step instructions, video tutorials, and a full user guide.

WP Autoresponder

Even though the plugin is free, Raj, the developer, provides voluntary support on WP Autoresponder's site in the comments and the forum.

In addition to the in-plugin hints and tips, there is a full user guide. You can post questions and comments on any page of the user guide to receive help from the developer. However, many questions there go unanswered. Another problem is that the website of the plugin can be very slow some times.

Satollo's Newsletter

Luckily, Satollo's Newsletter has sufficient documentation. First, there's a lengthy user guide that's built into the plugin and there are blue textboxes near almost all option fields to give you a description, instructions, and tips on the purpose of the field and how to use it.

The only problem with the documentation is it difficult to follow sometimes because of its bad grammar and many spelling errors.

While Satollo's Newsletter provides several public channels for support, such as this discussion page and the WordPress.org forum, the author doesn't attend to most of the questions and requests posted there.

EasyMail Newsletter

There's no comprehensive user guide for the current version (v2) of the plugin. However, most of EasyMail's features and settings are self-explanatory and there's pretty good in-plugin documentation. Additionally, there are other useful resources, such as the FAQs page and the technical documentation for developers.

If despite these resources you still needed help, you can ask for assistance on the WordPress.org forum of the plugin or the forum that's hosted on the author's own website. The author is active and helpful in both places.

MailPress

The author provides consistent support to his users on the WordPress.org forum as well as on a Google group for MailPress.

There's a section on MailPress that's dedicated to documentation. It's a Wiki site. I found it a little hard to navigate. However, it is very comprehensive. It covers every aspect of using and customizing the plugin--from installation to building a custom theme!

[GWA] Autoresponder Professional

The documentation of [GWA] Autoresponder covers many important aspects of operating the plugin. And this plugin has extensions of its own, and each extension has its little user guide. But one glaring oversight in the docs is not mentioning how those extensions are installed! By trial and error I found that you have to unzip the extension files and drop them in the main directory of the plugin.

Support for the plugin is provided for buyers of the plugin in the members area. Just login to your account and submit a ticket.

WPMU DEV e-Newsletter

Like with other WPMU DEV products, support for e-Newsletter is provided through the forums. The forum is publicly open so you can visit it and see how active and helpful it is for yourself.

Also like other WPMU DEV products, there is no documentation for the plugin. Some people have complained about this lack of documentation.

MeeNews

There's no support for MeeNews. And for documentation, there are brief videos for: installation, basic configurations, using the statistics module, front end settings, and subscribers management. That's it.
