Quick Shop is a lightweight shopping cart plugin, but it does a little bit more than an average plugin in its category.
The first thing you’ll have to do after activating the plugin is adjust its settings. And it provides a plenty of configurable options.
Once that’s done, you can begin adding products. Quick Shop handles the adding of products in an unusual way. It simply provides you with a textbox where you enter pipe (|) separated values that describe your product. Each product is in a new line.
Then to display your product in a WordPress page, you will use a shortcode such as [quickshop product="product name"].
The plugin will replace the shortcode with your product details, i.e. name, price, shipping cost, quantity, and of course, the “Add to cart” button.
When your visitor clicks on “Add to cart”, the item will appear in the shopping cart sidebar widget — along with the quantity, price, and the link to checkout. When the visitor clicks on the checkout link, they’ll be taken to another page where they confirm their order within your site. And on that page, there’s a “Buy Now” button that takes them to PayPal to complete their order. I don’t understand the purpose of this intermediate step. It just seems like an extra useless step to require your customers to go through.
But judging by the number of downloads and ratings this plugin has on WordPress.org, I must say that Quick Shop seems to be a very popular plugin.
