FatFreeCart is developed by the popular ecommerce company, e-junkie. The way it works is very simple, yet it is very effective. It works with Google Checkout and PayPal.
The plugin creates no additional tables to your WordPress database. It stores your products as posts. And it adds two buttons under your product post: “Add to cart” and “View cart”
To use this plugin, first activate it, and then go to WordPress settings → FatFreeCartPlugin. And enter your settings there, such as your Google Merchant ID, your PayPal email, etc. Once that’s done, go to WordPress add new post screen and you’ll see your product options as a meta box under the post editing box. Simply add your product details, save, and you’ll have yourself a new product ready to be bought by your visitors.
I like that this simple plugin supports taxes, shipping fees, and product variations.
Once you publish your post, it’ll show exactly what you wrote in the post content — nothing more except for the “add to cart” and “view cart” buttons below it. So, you’re responsible for formatting the post/product page. That is, you insert the product images, product specs, headings, and everything else just as you would compose a normal post. All FatFreeCart does is facilitate the payment and sending the product details that you added in the meta box to the payment processor.
When your visitor clicks on “add to cart” or “view cart”, a lightbox popup will be displayed showing the cart contents and links to Google Checkout, PayPal, or both — depending on your settings.
