How to Insert Amazon Ads in WordPress Sidebar for Each Post

I previously talked about displaying contextual Amazon ads on the sidebar automatically — kind of like AdSense. With that method you just insert the ad HTML code once, and Amazon does the rest. It checks your page’s content and recommends products based on that.

But what if you want to manually specify a certain Amazon product in the sidebar for each post that you write? For example, you want to recommend a book, a movie, or a hardware tool relevant to your post.

Here’s how you’d do that.

Use Amazon Post Purchase plugin

Amazon Post Purchase plugin was specifically made to allow bloggers to display a custom Amazon ad in the sidebar per each WordPress post. It does what it promises. After you’ve installed the plugin, activate the widget.

Then configure the widget

Now go to the WordPress post edit screen, and in the Custom Fields area enter a new custom field name similar to the one you put in the widget configuration, and let the value of that custom field be the Amazon product ASIN.

Here’s a screen shot of the default styling (your results may vary depending on the theme you use):

However, there are no options for how the ad is styled or displayed. You’ll have to inspect the HTML that’s generated by the plugin and try to style it using CSS.

If you feel that this plugin doesn’t work the way you need, check out the other article on inserting contextual Amazon ads in WordPress sidebar.
